Member choice is an important right in a managed care program. The right to choose means:

• there are enough service providers in the geographic area to serve the numbers of Medicaid member who need mental health services;
• there is a variety of specialty providers to fit the various cultures of the of people who make up the Medicaid population of our area;
• within the group practices such as the mental health centers, there are enough choices among individual providers for members to find a person they feel comfortable with.
